A very familiar name in the list of today’s new breed of restaurateurs, she graduated from the Center of Culinary Arts in Manila, and continued her studies at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, U.S.A. Her first work was with her family business, the renowned Red Crab Seafood and Steaks. At present, she is the corporate chef and part-owner of SumoSam Group of Restaurants (SumoSam Steaks Seafood and Sushi, John and Yoko Cosmopolitan Japanese, Marciano’s Pizza Pasta and Steaks, Mr. Kurosawa Euro-Japanese). She is capable of managing multiple restaurants, and at the same time, she manages all the food cost, labor cost, and profitability of the company. She is in command of the research and development, menu innovation and food styling. It is the best of her interest to travel around the world, to attend food tours and to continue bench marking outside the country.

Chef Benjamin Gonzales

The executive chef of the SumoSam Group of Restaurants (SumoSam, John and Yoko, Marciano’s, Mr. Kurosawa), he has gone a very long way in the restaurant business. From his humble beginnings working as a kitchen helper at Ray Mariz Catering Services from 1978 to 1982, he further acquired more exposure in the industry by joining the famous Furusato Japanese Restaurant as a server and eventually as a cook, from 1985 up to 1993. In those years, he became the head chef taking charge over the branches at Roxas Boulevard and Glorietta. Concurrently, he managed to take the same position as head chef at the Zen Restaurant. In 2005, he became part of the SumoSam family, continuing to explore and extend the boundaries of Japanese cuisine, passing on the knowledge and expertise to subsequent generation of aspiring chefs.

The Japanese cuisine like the culture fuses modernity and poetry. The western cuisine is diverse and progressive. Fuse the two different worlds together and you have John and Yoko Cosmopolitan Japanese. From the facade of the restaurant you can see that there is harmony with both the east and western elements but the Japanese touch still stands out in the motif.

The name came from the power couple of John Lenon and Yoko Ono who represent the cultures that they came from. Which best describes the feel and taste of restaurant. They currently have two branches one in Greenbelt 5 and a new branch in Alabang Town Center.

The flagship store of John and Yoko Cosmopolitan Japanese, one of the first denizens of then newly built wing of Greenbelt 5, will celebrate its 5th year of operations this coming October 2012. To give back to ever-supportive guests and restaurant enthusiasts, they are incredibly thrilled to present an early treat by offering their latest and updated menu which features a handful of new items, giving guests a wider selection of delectable delights.

Prior to that, due to the unwavering patronization of diners and its continuous success, a bigger reason to celebrate is the birth of its second store located at the ground floor of Alabang Town Center. Tagged as the “Greatest Hits”, this branch offers the finest of John and Yoko’s selections, serving only the best fusions from the east and from the west.

For starters, you’re off to a good fire up with Big Star Salad (greens with grilled prawns, cherry tomatoes, mango, walnuts with teriyaki sauce and miso dressing) for only P368 and Sunset Prawn Salad (greens with fruit salad topped with fried prawns) for only P358. You’ll fall in love with the famous Chicken Teriyaki and Mango Pizza for only P309 and the appetizing Shrimp Enoki Pizza for only P368. They revamped the shabu-shabu items (All-Meat for only P389 and Seafood for only P499) giving diners their choice of black miso, brown miso, or kimchi base. They will not fail to serve the well-loved Crunchy Kani Roll (fried crabstick with cucumber and Japanese mayo) for only P278. Smoked Salmon and Tuna Roll, a new name in the sushi list, is a must-try for all John and Yoko followers for only P239.

It was a simultaneous launch both in Greenbelt and ATC branches, of the hottest twist on traditional Japanese donburi titled “Bowl it or Sizzle it!” which gives customers a choice between the customary donburi (Gyudon, Katsudon, Tonkatsu Torikatsu Curry, etc.) served in rice bowls, or served in sizzling plates. The proposal is indeed irresistible and how can anyone miss the opportunity to try it?

Lastly, one must not fail to miss John and Yoko’s signature dish, the Japaella (sauteed Japanese rice with Spanish chorizo, onions, molinera, garlic, bell peppers, topped with chicken and shrimp) for only P589, the perfect combination of rice, seafood and meat. Gloriously finish the wonderful dining experience with these divine drinks, Choco Godzilla for only P168, and Flavored Yakults (orange, mango, strawberry of green apple) for only P108.

The interior of the restaurant is a splendid feast in the eyes. While taking pleasure from every bite of the dishes, one will fall short of putting behind the majestic monochromatic tree branches' and birds' silhouette designs partnered with red velvet on the walls; plus the fancy chairs with animal skin designs (giraffe, snake, tiger and leopard skins) added the Tim Burton-ish animalistic and fairytale kind of vibe and ambience, as accented even more by the dim lights and illuminated round modules of reds and purples. They also feature bookshelves displaying collections of old books and novels, small vintage suitcases and lamps, and antique frames containing photos of Japanese characters and individuals, a mix exhibiting a familiar scene of a time-traveler's bookshelf. To put in a little more entertainment, classic Japanese films are being projected on the wide red velvet wall to give viewers more amusing spectacles.

John and Yoko promises to make more diners embrace the cosmopolitan Japanese concept it offers. The people behind it guarantee to bestow further from what it had provided already, more than what is only perceived by the eyes - unmatched value for first-rate Japanese dishes by internationally-trained chefs, and exceptional service by dynamic and compassionate dining team.

I do have a lot of good memories in my childhood especially with food which is where we usually bond and talk. And one of the most memorable is when be brought me to this old Chinese restaurant in Cubao called Ma Mon Luk. Its just the two of us enjoying a hearty siopao and sometimes mami. Though there are fast food places in the area that I also dined at, the memories with this restaurant has been the most cherished memory of my late father.

Sadly, times changed and he left us too soon. Only left with me is the nostalgic feel of the moments he had eating. Today Ma Mon Luk still stands but only with 2 branches left (Quezon Avenue and Quiapo), which I can't confirm in my memory that I also tried those branches, what matters most is the taste and experience that will bring back memories.

Ma Mon Luk has endured the test of time and also the changes in society. With the ever changing Pinoy lifestyle that indulges now on fast food and quick fixes, Ma Mon Luk reminds and takes us back to the good ol' days of dinning out to simple Chinese cuisine which also bears more nostalgic memories.

The restaurant itself has not changed and the tables and chairs were like the ones back in the days (and definitely older). But there is no eerie feel that the building is too old for dining, actually I find it very cozy.Ma Mon Luk started out in Binondo-Sta Cruz which is started as a small MaMi House that eventually grew with the number of its loyal patrons.

Of course their best sellers are the Siopao (P45, P60 for Asado Chicken and Salted Egg Variant) and Shomai (45). They also have their Orginal Ma Mon Luk Mami (P95 small, P105 large) and Ma Mon Luk Special Fried Rice (P120). Also a must try and our HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for this Food Stop would be their Sweet and Sour Pork, which stay true with its tradition of serving authentic Chinese cuisine. I also loved the Chicken Ala Ma Mon Luk, which is something really one of a kind yet very balanced mix of sweet and salty.

In the modern society we have to day with every world cuisine is now available via the number of restaurants in the metro, it's time to break away from the present time and go back to the simple era in the Philippines. And the best place for that is within the walls of Intramuros.

The famed walled city still have its charm of the old Manila which used to the the seat of power back in the Spanish colonial period. And even if the district was ravaged back in World War 2, it is slowly brought to life by the Intramuros Administration by rehabilitating and rebuilding the glory of the walled city.

Now we talk about going on a historical and cultural food trip inside intramuros, the best place to start is in Plaza San Luis Complex, which I think is the best place that gives that old walled city feel. And in this block, we came across BARBARA's Restaurant. A family business managed by JC Delos Reyes, whose mother is where the name came from. Barbara's is built inside an old house with its furniture vintage as the home itself.

Though the feel is old, the aura of the place is warm and hospitable. They offer a buffet and a cultural night (except sundays) that will let you not only enjoy Filipino cuisine but also a fun experience with performers of different Filipino dances like the Pandango sa Ilaw, Sayaw sa Bangko, Tinikling, Igorot and Muslim dances. Interesting is that these dances are scholars of PLM (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila) which makes them talented and smart getting themselves through college.

For this stop, we went for the buffet and tasted almost everything . They have Pasta, Cream of Asparagus Soup, Fish Fillet, Lumpia, Roasted Chicken, Rice, and Fresh Salads. Desserts include coffee jelly, Buko Pandan Jelly and Braso de Mercedes. While dining you will also be serenaded by a banduria, which originated in the Philippines when the cabeza de baranggay was reffering to a group of guitar players.

For our highly recommended for this Food Stop is the Pichi Pichi and the Buchi bananas, which are great while watching the performance. I also (forced) to volunteer in dancing the tinikling (and I survived). And even I studied inside Intramuros for almost 4 years, this is the first time to experience Barbara's cuisine and cultural night which is also a highly recommended event for food lovers and tourist alike.

Coca Cola Blow Out Para Sa Bayan!

As Coca Cola Celebrates their 100 years this 2012, there are a lot to celebrate this year especially with family and friends. Just recently, The Coca Cola President for Happiness, Caloy declared his first national proclamation for a free coke weekend this Feb. 4, 2012. It was called the Coca Cola Blow Out Para Sa Bayan with a lot of participating stores like 7-11, Mang Inasal, Red Ribbon etc. I went to one 7-11 stores on my way to Intramuros and got myself free coke without any purchase required.

The Free Coke blow out ran from 1:30-4:30 in the afternoon. The line were not too long because there are also a lot of 7-11 in the area. and I even brought the cup to my meeting. Thank you again for Coca Cola for sharing a drink of happiness to the Filipino people and hope to also see more of this in the future!

FOOD NEWS: Chicken Deli Joins in the 84th Anniversary of Far Eastern University

The Far Eastuen University (FEU) just celebrated their 84th anniversary last January 27, 2012 with a great night of Fun, Festivities and Music. With Several acts to fill up the night, the whole school community rested their books and pens to enjoy and celebrate the years of success, progress and achievements.

Several celebrities like Pupil and someday dream also joined in the stage, but one of the segments that made the crowd cheer was for the Chicken Deli segment with Valerie Concepcion and Hansen of Pinoy Dream Academy.

Valerie energized the crowd with her song "Paparazzi" dancing with a student. Hansen of PDA also joined to serenade the crowd and also host games in which they can win gift certificates from Chicken Deli.

Even after the celebration, students can still enjoy Chicken Deli since a new store just opened last year in Recto near Morayta. So eating Bacolod famous chicken don't need to be far away!

I and other bloggers were brought back to the fifties and had a suede party with all-american goodness of burger, chicken and fries at Johnny Rockets.

And it was more that just good food that make this joint a blast from the past. The establishment itself has this feel of the fifties with its interiors like wide white walls with pictures of painted advertisements, vinyl seats and even a working jukebox!

What is more interesting about Johnny Rockets is their staff which also wears fifties inspired outfits and even wears rare coin dispensers which provides change to customers (and probably for the jukebox). But the fun does not stops there because at regular intervals within the day, the crew also provides entertainment by dancing to the tune of old hits. It really attracts attention even to people outside, just like a flash mob in a mall.

Now going back to their menu, they do boast of their all American cuisine that has been true with the taste and nostalgia of the 1950 (though I never loved before that time, probably my past life :-P ). They have (big) burgers that I say have great buns which are not not too soft or too hard which is the biggest taste factor for me in burgers.

They also offer fries and drinks (and with option to go unlimited on selected hours) which goes well with the burger. Our highly recommended for this stop is the American Fried Chicken which is stays with the original good ol' fashioned crispiness and juiciness which reminds you of home cooking.

It is indeed a great place to escape from the modern busy 21st century and truly enjoy your food like you should. Their branches in Tomas Morato, Burgos Circle and Eastwood Mall are open 24 hours so you can make that escape anytime of the day.

Its indeed obvious that I am in love with Food, especially Pinoy Cuisine. This made me explore uncharted places and flavors the city and the provinces have. I grew up in a bakery and my family hails from the Ilocos region and Batangas which made me experience a lot of exciting dishes from the provinces. And now as I also travel on my own I also make it a point to try something new and document it. I also love to cook and experiment with different spices and techniques which hopefully I would have a kitchen of my dreams to whip up something new yet delicious.

These are the reasons why Fud Fyt was born, to cater to my need of expressing my thoughts on my favorite subject (and hobby). Building up a huge portfolio of food items and reviews and also recipes I made. Though I have tried and reviewed many world cuisines, I always love to taste and share Pinoy delicacies. These are also the reasons why I want to be the Ultimate Food Blogger for Sooo Pinoy.

Honestly I have not been to places outside Luzon (and have never rode a plane, ever), so it would be a great opportunity for me to be part of this. Not only that I feature food but also the rich history and culture that tell stories which also highlights the origin and cultural connection with the food. Traveling and Adventure always come with every food experience. By the way, speaking of adventure, I also do experiments in my Food Lab section.

Hopefully I would like to have my own restaurant in the future, or probably a bakery in which our lineage came from. And sharing it to the Philippines and to the rest of the world, would be something that I can be proud of as a food blogger. Food Trip is always a battle that's why this is Fud Fyt!

Bizu Patisserie will be celebrating its 10th year Anniversary from August to November 2011. Bizu Patisserie invites professional and amateur photographers to join the “Joie de Vivre” Photo Contest, a photo contest that seeks to capture life’s joyful moments.

"Joie de Vivre", a French term which means “The Joy of Living” represents what Bizu Patisserie has consistently given its clientele through its superb selection of foods that are both savory and sweet. Through the competition, Bizu Patisserie wants to make sure they remember not just the decade that has passed but also the special and endearing moments that drew them close to their clientele’s hearts. 2. WHO WILL QUALIFY

Winners who will personally get their prizes from our head office must present a valid ID to claim the prize.

Another best seller is the Lechong Manok which is another contender for the Highly recommended for this restaurant. It stays true with the tastiness of chicken and a great alternative for those who are fed up with just regular friend chicken.

Now, another favorite of mine would be the Kare Kare plate which the parts are separated like the meat, the Kare Kare sauce, vegetables and the bagoong. Though some restaurants also offer this kind of separate serving, what I loved about the plate is the Kare Kare sauce which is a win for my taste. Adding the meat and the others makes it better.

After battling with these great dishes, time to cool off with everybody's favorite Leche Flan. Indeed a perfect dessert to cap off your Pinoy Food trip.

We can't take our eyes off this simple yet enticing dish. The Adobong Kangkong made me feel like its a home-cooked meal with improvements of additional ingredients. Among all the dishes, this is the one I find time to finish and savor the sauce. Fellow blogger Ruth also loved this dish and she is indeed interested to know how it is made. Well I don't need to bother since this mystery makes it more delicious and the looks of it makes sure that it really made with fresh ingredients.

Go on a persian food trip at Maginhawa street where you can find a unique restaurant serving this arabic cuisine with a touch of pinoy taste. Al fakhr's is orginally owned by Jim Paredes' brother, now with a new management, it still offers that fine Persian menu with things that will make you come back for more.

Located in Maginhawa street in UP Village, where there are also a number of establishments offering different kinds of cuisine. Al Fakhr's is the only one of its kind. Plus the fact that name is indeed catchy.

For us to get to know the reatuarant we got starters of Hummus, Pita, Ox brain, Falafel wrap, Keema, Grilled tomatoes and Grilled Persian Chicken. As a curry lover, I could not help to indulge with the Persian Chicken which is also a secret recipie that they formulated, and it makes you crave for more curry! The Keema goes well with sour cream or/and the tomatoes. The Falafel wrap goes well with chili or the garlic sauce. And the sinnfully delighting Ox brain which has the texture of tofu but has the rich flavor of soft meat, which can also be mixed with calamansi to have that sisig feel.

On their main course, they have their bestsellers, Beef and Chicken Kebab, Beef Curry Kebab and the Lambchop. The Both Chicken and Beef Kebab are created by shaping the meat into a cylindrical shape like a hotdog and grilling them with spices for taste. This makes the kebab very tasty with less to worry about bones. Another curry favorite is the Beef Curry Kebab which takes the Kebabs and mix them with their curry sauce. Again that the curry is great and addicting though it is not as spicy as the others. The last would be the Lambchop which you can have the option for rare, medium and well done since Lamb is very different from beef and pork better go with well done to make sure that the meat is still easy to chew and swallow.

Weighing all of the dishes tasted. I would say I would go with the Grilled Persian Chicken which blended perfectly with the curry which makes it very persian in nature but at a very afforable price!

After media publications, bloggers were next on the list Pizza Hut’s Hot on the Dot campaign. Bloggers were treated to a free block screening of Cowboys versus Aliens at Gateway Cineplex last August 10, 2011. Attendees of the said event started the night of with cocktails, courtesy of Pizza Hut, which was then followed by free popcorn and pizza while they were enjoying the movie. It was also in this bloggers’ event that Pizza Hut’s dancing delivery riders, were seen dancing for the first time. Executing complicated dance moves, the Pizza Hut dancing riders wowed the crowd with their synchronized movements.

Aside from selected media publications and bloggers, Pizza Hut also went the extra mile by visiting orphaned children and treating them to Pizza Hut’s mouth-watering signature dishes last August 16, 2011. The children from Asociacion de Damas Filipinas spent their morning enjoying the program made by Pizza Hut, which was attended by marketing officer, area managers, and delivery riders. The program prepared for the children definitely started the day with a high note, which included a “Stick the Hot Dot” game, a dance competition among the delivery riders, and a pizza party. The pizza party was highlighted by a heart-warming moment wherein Pizza Hut’s vice president for marketing, Ms. Elaine Guzman, was seen feeding some children; an act that revealed Pizza Hut’s sincerity in making the children’s lives better.

We loved Yellow Cab Pizza since it came here to our shore 10 years ago and we still love the for their great tasting pizza which is worth its value. And now as it celebrates 10 years of providing delicious pizza that is gaining popularity with yuppies especially the people in the call center industry.

We tried several of their best sellers and our Highly recommended award goes to The Dear Darla Pizza which is still one of the most unique way to eat pizza and also enjoy eating your greens. Its the fresh ingredients that they incoporated with every menu especially when it comes to dairy products.

In its decade of operation Yellow Cab Pizza partnered with Fonterra Brands (Makers of Anchor and Anlene Milk) to be its supplier of Gourmet Cream and Cheeses. Imported and Fresh from New Zealand, these dairy products go through quality inspection and processes which ensures each product to be top of the line and world class. How did I say that the workplace was efficient and ergonomic, it because Yellow Cab gave us the chance to make our own pizza and tried it on site. Though our pizza it might not be perfect, probabaly with a little practice we can also make those quality pizza they serve! Also we were given a quick lecture about cheeses and how each cheese has its unique property and makes it very tasty.

I am not really Illongo but of course when it comes to food there is no regional exclusiveness. And so far I am really interested about knowing more about the Illongo cusine aside from just La Paz batchoy. Marina restaurant which came from that region originally is emerging as the place for dining especially for seafood, more particularly osyters! I was invited to have this food trip that was a mix of sea foods and meat favorites like chicken and beef. But I really have to raise a golden spoon for how good those oysters can be!

I actually came from another food event but saved some space for this since this is one my anticipated chance to taste this freshly flung seafood from Panay-Negros region.

I actually tasted most of dishes served and it was really nice to expand my foodie knowledge about them. And actually one trivia they shared too us is that in the Vizayas branches, it just known as Marina, but here in metro manila they labeled it as Ross and Marina (which is to pay homage to the founding couple). And even it may have still several branches here in the metro I think that this resto can actually make a mark as a seafood restaurant that we, fresh seafood-deprived citizens of Manila can actually enjoy.

The oysters are the house specialty and in whatever way they cook them taste very very good, also best when eaten fresh. And since they are 'imported' from Panay where the best seafood comes from. No doubt, this is one of the best seafood restaurant to date in fud fyt!

Though there is no such thing as a Banapple, it has become a brand that people would go to to enjoy quality and hearty meals and gets customers coming back for more. I first knew Banapple as a pastry shop and nothing else. But I was impressed by the fact that they also offer meals. And when I say meal it is a full meal, you won't be disappointed.

I tried their best seller Hickory Smoked Barbecued Country Ribs. The serving of the rice itself is perfect for rice loving foodies, like me. The meat is cooked just right with a sweet sauce that blends perfectly to the juicy ribs. It reminded me of lechon with sarsa which I think made it a hit with their patrons. The vegetable side dish gives the meal its balance.

Of course, I've also tried their cakes. Being a chocolate person, I ventured to try another best seller, the Blueberry Cheese cake. Aside from the cool plate presentation, one thing I noticed is the perfect blend of the cheese and the blueberry itself. The cheese base is just right not to overpower the blueberry which brings out its fruity flavor. Makes you want to savor every bite perfect when just chilling out or reading a book.

It was lunch time when we dined and I was amazed when a lot of customers keep pouring in to the shop for their lunch. It looked like a blockbuster with customers ranging from people from Greenhills and even La Salle. And even its not in the Greenhills Shopping Center Area, people would go the effort to go a little further to Connecticut street.

They also have other best sellers like the Breaded Fillet Cream of Dory with Honey Thyme Mustard Sauce, and the Classic Pecan Pie. Which I would say is also a Highly Recommended contender. You may also check more dishes at their website and check on the list of pastries and meals.

And no doubt for this stops Highly Recommended is the Blueberry Cheese cake for its flavor and unique texture. Knowing cheeses, finding the right consistency and flavor of cheese that blends with another flavor is a challenge but Banapple was able to perfect this and would definitely have another slice for lazy days that I would have in the future.

The Figaro Coffee Systems, Inc. has nothing to do with whatever dealings or transactions the Promolabels Specialty Shop may have had with Pagcor from 2001 to 2009.

The relationship between Figaro and Promolabels was purely that of Franchisor-Franchisee contractual tie. As Franchisor, Figaro allowed Promolabels to use its tradename and put up and operate Figaro stores in locations chosen solely by Promolabels. Incidentally, Promolabels severed its contractual relationship with Figaro in February 2009.

Under the new set of officers that took over management in 2009, Figaro practices proper corporate governance, conforms to government rules/regulations and does not allow Figaro’s name to be involved in anomalous undertakings. At present, Figaro is seriously engaged in creating new merchandise made of purely Filipino goods/products and in promoting coffee and tea products that are grown domestically by Filipino farmers.

Owned and operated by Mary Chan, Hongkong Roast Food Express of HKR is her new business aside from her already-successful printing business. For business purposes, Mary found herself travelling frequently back and forth from Hong Kong and China. Armed with a Hotel & Restaurant Management Degree from Dominican College and a love for food, Mary discovered the true recipe for asado, or barbecued pork as it is more commonly known overseas. A cook herself who trained under Chef Gene Gonzales as a college student, Mary decided to bring “the taste of Hong Kong” to Manila, with a strong focus on asado.

The recipe for asado is apparently a trade secret, which explains why only the Chinese chefs who work for Manila’s fine dining Chinese restaurants are able to copy the true Hong Kong asado well. Nevertheless, Mary felt the need for a restaurant that emulated the true Hong Kong dining experience – excellent food, fast service, unfussy surroundings and affordable prices. Therefore, she and her chef trained with Hong Kong and Shenzhen chefs to perfect the recipe, which is now one of the best-selling dishes at HKR.

Other notable dishes include the roast chicken, whose texture and flavor are reminiscent of Causeway Bay roast duck; the appetizing salted baked chicken; and the Black Chicken Sesame – which you will only find at HKR. The dish uses the silk chicken, a type of fowl whose skin is completely black. In China, dishes with silk chicken are usually consumed twice a day post-pregnancy to bring the mother back to health. In HKR, the dish is cooked with ginger to eliminate unhealthy gas and acid from the system. The taho and soy milk are manufactured completely in the restaurant. For an interesting salve to the sweet tooth, try the French Toast with sesame filling – a popular dish among gentlemen, Mary notes with surprise. Perhaps one reason why the food tastes so much like authentic Hong Kong cuisine is because a lot of the ingredients are imported. For instance, HKR’s milk tea is such an accurate representation of its Hong Kong cousin because only Black and White Evaporated Full Cream milk is used to create it – one of the two brands used by Hong Kong restaurants to craft the beverage. HKR delivers to the immediate vicinity and uses only environmentally-friendly packaging made out of corn pulp to house the food.

HKR is the only restaurant that claims to have authentic Hong Kong food but does not have a Chinese chef on the payroll. Whereas this may raise some eyebrows to the restaurant’s faithfulness to the original, Mary believes that her patrons visit her to sample the excellent and affordable food, and not to watch a Chinese chef cook. Furthermore, her own enculturation in Hong Kong and Shenzhen cuisine, coupled with an eye for detail and careful management of her restaurant, lend HKR all the authenticity it needs.

Chinese style chicken is also a win

This hidden gem is truly Hong Kong. Run by a Chinese lady with considerable experience in the culinary arts both here and abroad, serving dishes that are genuinely Causeway Bay café in taste and quality, HKR is a veritable little Hong Kong in the middle of Makati City.

Just like the ad, don't mind the characters, The pork asado ihas earned Fud fyt's approval of Highly Recommended for food lovers. This Chinese specialty has indeed preserved the Chinese flavor which Hongkong Roast would like to be known for. As we are used with asado on our Siopao, this asado would leave you filled and perfect with fried rice.

We also considered the Beef Noodle as it's a great combination perfect for the rainy days. But to represent the perfect dish for the restaurant itself, Asado still tops the list.

So when in Makati, don't forget to drop by Bagtikan street to escape into Hongkong Roast!

It was the fourth of July and though not in the United States, we celebrated the day with an American Cuisine escapade at CLAWDADDY CRAB HOUSE AND AMERICAN GRILL. Where they serve All american treats which id perfect for the celebration. This event was organized thanks to the Monday Supper Club and ENJOY Philippines.

In line with the Independence day celebration, Americans would prepare barbecue for this holiday. And with this monumental event, the Monday Supper Club also held its major event for this holiday. The dinner started with a cooking demonstration by Chef Peter Ayson with 3 dishes: The Carolina Coleslaw, The Quick and Easy BBQ Ribs and the New American Potato Salad.

There were a total of 56 (paying guests) + 6 (sponsored guests) who attended the event. Plus there was a raffle draw wherein there were 10 Clawdaddy GC's, 5 Balance Fitness GC's, and 15 Strip GC's given away. So everyone goes home a winner.
